Firefox Relay Alternative for Any Browser

Firefox Relay is a good choice for Firefox users; press reports put its free tier at 50 masks since late May 2026, though Mozilla's own site still says 5. Relay works from any browser through its dashboard, so the difference is not the browser: Emcognito is the Firefox Relay alternative when you want unlimited aliases on the free plan, count-metered forwarding, and per-alias controls.

Verified - we re-check quarterly.

When Firefox Relay wins

  • You already live in Firefox and want its browser integration.
  • The free mask allowance - reported at 50, though Mozilla's site still says 5 - is enough for your usage.
  • You want Relay Premium's phone masking where available.

When Emcognito wins

  • You want unlimited aliases from any browser without a Premium plan.
  • You need more than 50 aliases without paying just for address count.
  • You want the free tier described as 100 forwarded emails/month instead of a mask cap.
  • You want a documented, supported public API for creating aliases from your own code — included with Plus at $2/month.
  • You want an email the day a new company starts mailing one of your aliases, with one-tap block for that sender — included with Plus at $2/month.

Firefox Relay to Emcognito migration checklist

  1. Keep existing Relay masks for active accounts.
  2. Create new Emcognito aliases for new signups so you stop consuming mask slots.
  3. Move high-spam senders first so they can be suspended independently.

Frequently asked questions

How many free Firefox Relay masks are available?

Press reports describe a late-May 2026 increase to 50 masks, but Mozilla never announced it and relay.firefox.com still says "Everyone gets 5 email masks for free." Treat 50 as reported, not confirmed.

Does Emcognito require Firefox?

No. Emcognito works from the web in any modern browser; its extension is Chrome only. Firefox Relay doesn't require Firefox either: per its FAQ, you can create masks in other browsers by signing in to the Relay dashboard.
